Welcome to the home of DHS Sound and Daniel Schwartz. Daniel is a freelance audio engineer in the Washington, D.C. area. His audio work ranges from studio recording to live sound reinforcement, and field and in-studio television audio to radio board operations. Daniel has a degree in Audio Production with a minor in music from the Scripps School of Communications at Ohio University. You can regularly find Daniel working for The National Press Club, MSNBC & CNBC. Additionally, he runs front of house sound at local area music venues, including Hill Country DC in Penn Quarter of DC, Strathmore in Bethesda, MD, Jammin’ Java and The Barns at Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA.
Aside from work as an audio engineer, Daniel is also a musician. Currently, he performances around the DC area as children’s artist Ryan Buckle as well as with artists like Robbie Schaefer, Sir Alan and the Calypso Ponzi Schemers, Jamie Marie, Stripmall Ballads, Bikes on Cops, Justin Trawick and Jennifer Cutting’s Ocean Orchestra.
Finally, and perhaps closest to Daniel’s heart, is his work with the DC-based production company, BandHouse Gigs. Since 2004, the production team has staged all-star tributes to artists including Nils Lofgren, The Band, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Nick Lowe, Joni Mitchell, Warren Zevon, Allen Toussaint, The 40th Anniversary of Woodstock, Neil Finn and Crowded House, a two night British Invasion Tribute, and most recently, The Byrds. All were showcased at either The Performance Center at Strathmore in Bethesda, MD, The Barns at Wolf Trap, or Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis, MD. Over the course of these tributes, Daniel has had the privilege of performing with such artists as Margot MacDonald, Jon Carroll (Starland Vocal Band, Peter Wolf), Heidi Martin, John Jennings (Mary Chapin Carpenter), Daryl “Jr.” Cline, and Steuart Smith (The Eagles, Dar Williams).
